Jaipur: Abhey Singh, also referred to as IIT Baba following his brief burst of fame at the Maha Kumbh festival, is being prosecuted in Jaipur for allegedly possessing marijuana, or “ganja.” Reducing the seizure to “prasad”—a sacred sacrifice—Mr. Singh played it down.
However, because he only had a minor amount of the drug, IIT Baba managed to avoid being arrested.
‘Prasad’, ganja, was discovered in my hands. This prasad is present in every seer. He told reporters, “If it’s against the law, arrest the seers who went to Maha Kumbh because they were having it in public.”
But the police version gives the story a strange turn. They disclosed that after learning that the self-styled seer had threatened to commit suicide on social media, they arrived at the Riddhi Siddhi Park Classic Hotel.
“The 35-year-old pulled a package of ganja out of his pocket and declared, ‘I had consumed ganja,’ when a police squad arrived at the hotel and questioned him about his remark. “I don’t know anything if I have provided any information while under its influence,” the police stated in a statement.
The 1.50-gram ganja packet was immediately confiscated in accordance with the 1985 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS Act). Investigations are underway.
The police’s “suicide” claim was rejected by Mr. Singh, who says he is an aerospace engineer from IIT Bombay, who added, “They came here (to his hotel) under the pretext of some bizarre case.” They said that someone informed them that I would commit suicide. However, they just began doing anything else after coming here.
In the meantime, a another video of him declaring that the First Information Report (FIR) “makes no sense” is going viral.
“A case has been filed by them. (They said) This is against the law and I can’t do it. But it doesn’t make sense because, during Maha Kumbh, so many seers performed this in front of so many people if it was against the law. Will they now take them all into custody? In the video, he was heard stating, “That is open evidence.”
When ‘IIT Baba’ claimed to have been beaten at a news discussion show on a private TV channel in Noida, he recently made headlines.
He also took a seat outside Sector 126’s police outpost. But after being persuaded by the police, he later canceled the demonstration.

SHO Bhupendra Singh of the Sector 126 police station stated that he was persuaded and decided not to pursue the matter.
A representative for the Juna Akhara camp at the Maha Kumbh had previously barred Mr. Singh from the camp, calling him a “educated lunatic” who “abused” his guru.
